So, I was super excited that I could edit a Wikipedia page! I have looked at Wikipedia, told my students that it was editable...yada yada yada but wow - it really is! I kind of felt empowered for some silly reason that I contributed to common knowledge. This experience was pretty cool. :)
The author of a book I'm reading, Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts, and Other Powerful Web Tools for Classrooms, Will Richardson, is a big proponent of Wikipedia - both the idea of it and its potential. He is amazed that through the common knowledge of good, decent people around the world, Wikipedia can compete with any encyclopedia in the world. It is pretty awesome - the power of this new read/write web!
